Today is the first day of the rest of this job.

I think I’m going to lock any posts that have to do with work, as I remember a bit of LJ drama with some Comcast employees and having problems with LJ posts. So, I’m going to make mine friends-only.

Up at 6:15. Out of the driveway at 7:09. In the parking lot of Comcast at 8:27. My hour-and-a-half estimation was almost dead on. M-14 was the easiest, and I-696 had more slowdowns than Van Dyke had.

So, since I was haf an hour early, I got to scope out and analyze my class. At least, those that didn’t call in and cancel. Someone whose last day at CoreComm was Friday started here today. Apparently, another mass exodus is being attempted. I couldn’t help but chuckle and wonder just how many familiar faces would end up migrating here.

There are typical training videos, typical motivational and “feel like a family” videos, breaking the ice introductions, etc. Typical orientation stuff. A whole day of HR: benefits, policies, and harassment, oh my!

The call center is fantastic. Pure good. Except for the flooding. And the blowers everywhere. Woosh.

So… very… frustrating.

SUPER-POWERFUL UPDATE SYSTEMS GO!! Uhm… yeah. Or something.

Landscaping outside. Listening to 89X. It goes out. It comes back on. It goes out again and does not come back on. Mom says that there isn’t power in parts of Lansing and Okemos. Next door neighbor says it’s a national outage. I wonder who hates George W more than I do. I continue landscaping. Dad comes home, he has info, but not a lot. “Mechanical problem in the grid.” He has some ideas, and ends up being nearly right. The theory about the lightning strike surfaces on the battery-operated radio headsets. US and Canada start blaming each other… US says the strike was in Canada, Canada says the strike was in the U.S. I think, “Gee, there probably wasn’t a lightning strike if the countries are bickering about something that stupid.” We watch Back to the Future on DVD in Dad’s brand new Chevy luxury SUV. Just like the commercial, only sans popcorn.

Next day includes lots of time in the hot and muggy house.

Then I shot to Ann Arbor like a bat out of Hell. I helped a tiny, eensy weensy bit with the moving in for and . I hung out mightily with . I had missed the hell out of her. The next day was spent looking for a place to live in A2 and Ypsilanti while more moving was done. I also spent some good hanging out time with Amy and Mike. Later on, I picked up the and headed back to Mike and Amy’s. Good good good gaming was had. Then, very late at night, I drove the both of us back here to the T-W-P. The parentals had received power around 4:30 AM on Saturday.

Mom was cooking bacon and eggs when I woke up, around noon today. was sleeping peacefully and beautifully on the couch when I came downstairs. I woke her up (evil me!) and we ate my mother’s delicious cooking. Then, we shot like a bat out of hell to Lansing. We met Blodgett at the Fortress. Bitch-fest mode ON:

During the packing and the moving, I had misplaced issue 3 of the new Transformers comic series. Today, when picking up my pull from Fortress, I replaced it. I’m gettin’ all hyped because I see Galvatron on the cover of Armada, and an old-school Optimus Prime on the first few pages (non-Armada style Prime). So I rush home, bring my comic box downstairs, root through my Armada comics…. and Fortress seems to have missed putting an issue in my pull.

Annoying.

Even though they’ve only missed one, as far as I can tell, I’m kind of upset. It feels like it’s a recurring theme because of the missing issue, and now I’ve got this Issue 1 of a Darkness: Wanted Dead or Alive series, when I just asked for Darkness in my pull. *sigh*

Bitch-fest mode OFF.
Blodgett, , and I went to the MSU union lab to mooch high-speed internet for a little while. Next came Lou and Harry’s for dinner, and then I dropped them both off. After leaving a superbly annoying voice mail message for , I came back to the T-W-P. I did a bit of landscaping (about an hour’s worth) and then got stuff ready for tomorrow. New clothes, yay! Then, I headed down here to the basement to read through comics and make myself tired by catching up on LJ.

Tomorrow, bright and early, I start my new job.

Tomorrow, I start working again.

It feels unbearably good to say that.

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): If you’re typical, your memory is not very efficient; by tomorrow at this time you will have forgotten much of what you learned today. But you cannot afford to be typical during the next ten days, Taurus. It’s crucial to the ultimate success of your long-term dreams that you remember far more than you usually do. I don’t care how you do it: Intensify your perceptiveness, try memory-strengthening exercises, take massive doses of ginkgo biloba, or all of the above. Become as aggressively receptive and absorptive as you have ever dared to be.

Waiting.

I have found that the 28.8K download speed is SO slow, that I have had to vacate the parentals’ house to the TWP library, JUST to read LJ. Dear gods, it’s so slow… I keep zoning out and falling asleep while images download.

The other night, coming back from Brighton, I hit the I696/I75 interchange and couldn’t help but remember my ex-gf Cheri’s reaction to the bridge system. It hits me almost every time I take that interchange.

My mood has been slowly plummeting, lately. I hate the landscaping, but I’m doing it because it’s good, healthy, paying work. Today, I’m going to do landscaping, but I needed to get the hell out of the house first. So, off to the bank to deposit the check from selling the lumina. Off to another, closer to house, branch to change my address. Off to my childhood barber shop to get my hair cut (one of the barbers recognized me from when I was a teenager… and looked like Rush Limbaugh! Heh!). Now, I’m here. BLAZING SPEED INTERNET!! Okay, I’m done with that now.

I have some emails that I need to reply to with respect to gaming, but they need more thought put into them. I’m going to start the bill-paying-off when I get home today, starting with the phone bill.

I swear to Bob, I can feel my synaptic pathways re-forming. I may have been released from Lansing the night that I moved down here, but I don’t think I let go of it. My apologies to all those that have dealt with my high-strung state in the interim. I shall endeavor to re-locate my calm. :)

Time advances steadily…

Last night, I decided to check out the Pontiac Cam/Anarch venue (*cough*genre*cough*) at OU. It was a pretty good game… most of Lansing’s court had shown up there because of the lack of Lansing games lately. Good times.

It shouldn’t be so criminally easy to make people laugh. Last night, post-game, at Ram’s Horn, it was uber-easy.

Well, off to landscape. Geh.

So much.

I never posted about Luna on Wednesday, did I? joined me, armed with free passes, for Wednesday night at Luna. It was kind of laid back for me, and I hope I didn’t keep him off the dance floor by people-watching like I did. I came up with the first scene for Chapter Six, I just need to flesh it out. Wednesday was just a wierd day. Oh, well. Looks like there might be a Jakubowski and a coming out this week. *rubs hands together evilly* Excellent.

I love the new car. Malibu. Left the lot with six miles on it. Air conditioning. Extremely low outside-the-car noise making it to my ears. Sound system, though stock, is very nice. Suspension is beautiful. I’m going to become very spoiled very quickly, especially after I drive it to Lansing and back a few times. Not to mention work in Ann Arbor. :)

Then there was IPM last night. The night started out with me being hyper, as per usual. I was once again the second DJ up. This time, I totally borked things up near the beginning of the set. If it really is a set. I see the balue of ‘s point of view. It’s a radio show, and there’s new stuff that needs to be played. Everybody likes a little something different, so playing a random variety isn’t bad at all. The other side of this argument is exemplified by the set that played after I finished. Holy crap, that was a nice set. It was something that would have worked at the club. I guess it comes down to weather or not I want to be a radio-type DJ, sprinkling the random CD’s with tracks that I know and dig, or try to actually design sets that will work well together.

Oh, and I spilled beer on my shirt. And my contacts were all like, “I’m going to suck all of the moisture out of your eyes!” So I left right after was the Reverend Baldknobber. He’s a genius from the waist down.
