Mega-Corporation

I dislike large corporations. That’s why I try to shop at independant stores if I can.

You’d not beleive how much it irks me that both TSR and Hasbro are sub-companies of Microsoft.

And now, AOL Time Warner is blocking Trillian users from using their network. They’re peeved because Trillian beat out their software on C|Net’s review. Trillian rated as the number one instant messaging client, period. So, two days later, Trillian can no longer connect to AIM’s network. There was a fix, and a new version. Whoops, fix doesn’t work any more. Open warfare? I wonder how long they’ll take to start doing similar things with ICQ, since they’re both AOL products. Oh, lookee, we don’t have to see your ads. And the software is free. They take donations, but they don’t require them. And guess what! Users can help program plug-ins for new messaging client software as it comes up!

Good god damn. People on the Trillian forums have started boycotting anything to do with AOL Time Warner altogether. Ranging even to TV shows and movies.

We appear to be quite the fiends for being connected. >:)

Low Coolant

I was driving back from Spiral last night and my low coolant light came on. I knew this was coming, because I’ve been catching whiffs of burnt coolant coming from the thing when I turn it off. I’m not risking a long drive with a problem like that, so I’m going to have to bail on IPM. That blows. Also delays any plans of getting down to Ohio to visit. Sonofabitch.

Accomplished yesterday.

  • Made doctor’s appointment for today.
  • Did all of my taxes. (2 tele-files, and 1 mail-in… stupid Lansing City Tax)
  • Visiting with Ani and Abby (AKA catching up on gossip about ).
  • Mucho writing at Spiral.

To do today:

  • Doctor’s appointment
  • Buy stamps
  • Send out at least 3 resumes
  • Green Spiral
  • Vacuum room
  • Prepare lunch for tomorrow

Maybe I should be like and cross them off as I get them done. Hrm.

Musing

I bought a barely used leather trench coat yesterday. It hangs about three inches above ground level. It rocks.

I need to shave before I head out to Spiral tonight, as well as sending out those resumes. Maybe I’ll even have time to vacuum my room.

I wrote an entry for the . I’m taking a more active hand in things, and hopefully that will get taken up by the other writers.

Grey skies and misty rain make me smile. I’m totally digging this weather. A little bit warmer and it’d be perfect. I should do a small ritual today later on, maybe when I get out of work, I should head to Beal Gardens before going home. It’s been a long time since I’ve done an out-and-out ritual. Plus, I have a new trench coat. Cleansing and sanctifying everyday things for ritual use… I love crossing that line, because then there is no difference between every day and n ritual. Then you are practicing every minute of your day. That’s why I try to keep some representation of a dragon near me all the time… to remind me.

Accomplishment

Ok, everybody can rest easy now and quit bugging me. I made my doctor’s appointment for that bit of swelling that’s not going down on my knee. 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. I’ll know then if it’s water on my knee.

It’s a different doctor, cuz my normal doctor was out of town when I went last time, so I get to explain the whole situation over again. Woo hoo.

Done, not done, and to do.

What I did:

Organized my new photos into my album, and got them ready for scanning for an album project I’ve had banging around in my head for years. The layout’s in my head too. Fun stuff!

What I should have done:

Mailed out more resume’s to the openings in the Detroit area.
Stupid Skippy.
Vacuumed my room.

What I need to do tomorrow:

Work.
Keep up regularly on my ibuprofin. Knee pain makes me uber-cranky.
Send out resumes.
Watch and bowl.
Go to Spiral for the new version of GothScape. I wonder how many times they’re going to re-invent it.. I hear they’re trying to find a LARP to play there Tuesday nights. Interesting. Perfect venue for one. Horrible night for one.
