Attempting to buckle down.

So, here I am again. I’m at the Gone Wired Cafe, attempting to focus.

I have three teenage girls in front of me, and sometimes I can hear their giggling and gossiping over IPM in my headphones.

On a similar note, there’s some dude that insists on using his speakerphone option with his annoying Nextel chirp-I-must-stab-you-chirp radio nonsense. He’s sitting to my right.

I feel overwhelmed. I feel frustrated with myself. I have obligations, to myself, to my professors, and to my fellow classmates (group projects and all). And here I sit, quietly but completely dropping the ball.

This funk is no longer under the short-term heading. Now I need to find a solution. Every attempt I make at pushing through is met with some sort of internal, diametrically opposed force that pulls me back into a state of…

… doing nothing.

Oh, and lest I forget…

will be happy to know that has convinced me to read Wil Wheaton’s blog at .

The list will never stop growing. Eventually I’m going to need a data port into my head. It better be at least gigabit, or I’m gonna be obsolete sooner than advertised. Heh.

Too much alcohol for one week.

Our emergency bowling session went off without a hitch this morning, and we kicked some ass. Once again, I’ve scored an all-time high.

153. This time, I didn’t even get a turkey.

I’m starting to get strange looks when I talk about bowling. Yeah, I used to think it was a redneck thing to do. Luckily, I am about the farthest thing from a redneck. :)

Anyway, editing on the novel may or may not progress while is out of town. She’s got ample time set up for herself, and I already have my next step to set up.

My professional web page.

Of course, in the midst of all of that, I’ve got to work on the work web page, do some server administration, catch up on homework, and visit that river park a couple more times. Heh.

Last night was a rockin’ time at City Club. The Skippy Shuffle was witnessed… some would even say that it was witnessed twice! Clearly this foretells a shredded universal tapestry and doom for all!

Thank the gods for no hangover.

Progress Reporting Again

The formatting is done, and the novel looks -pretty-, if I do say so myself. Granted, Lulu‘s font selection is fairly limited, but you deal with what you’ve got. :)

I’m at Gone Wired, and and are sitting across from me, doing the final red-penning.

Instead of tearing out my hair, I’m trying to finish up the Ubuntu install on ‘s wonderfully old Sony Vaio. Thank goodness for the Ubuntu Forums.

So. Must not bite off fingernails.

Progress Reports

I finished the last sweep last night. Next is formatting, which means I need to go to lulu.com and read their formatting guidelines, as well as find a standard font size, type, and spacing for hardcover novels.

and will be doing a final edit on Saturday.

I’m more excited than I can remember being about anything.

Superglue as proof of deity.

I’d also like to note that I’d be nowhere near as productive as I’ve been if not for superglue.

I’d broken my good headphones, and my backup pair suck. Luckily, the break had been clean enough that the broken edges mated evenly, and superglue (teflon, people!) bonded them together perfectly.

I spent a week with those crap headphones. IPM is so much better when one can -hear- the bass.
