TAURUS (April 20-May 20): “In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts,” wrote American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. “They come back to us with a certain alienated majesty.” The first part of your assignment, Taurus, is to identify other people’s brilliant creations that remind you of good ideas of your own that you’ve failed to develop. The second part of your assignment is to do something–anything!–to correct for your neglect. Get started on your own masterpiece.

The Terrorists are Winning, and the Politicians are Encouraging it
From this article:
“The surest defense against terrorism is to refuse to be terrorized. Our job is to recognize that terrorism is just one of the risks we face, and not a particularly common one at that. And our job is to fight those politicians who use fear as an excuse to take away our liberties and promote security theater that wastes money and doesn’t make us any safer.”
Book review!
There’s a review of The Remembrance over at
I couldn’t help it. I read it.
Freedom
I hereby reject those philosophies that require sacrificing freedom in favor of safety.
When your society is free, a logical and necessary risk taken is that your neighbor, who is also free, might do something stupid with their freedom.
[Excerpt] Two Vampires
Here, Megan gets Nicholas to write down more from his past. Yet again, Nicholas is a bit cranky.
“Despite their petulance, your words wound me, Nicholas. You know as well as I that the source of my sight is a mystery to the both of us.” She tightened her grip, and pain began to jump down his back. “I suppose that you need a reminder that I am not, nor have I ever been, compelled to share frivolous revelations with you or anyone else.” Two vertebrae cracked, and Nicholas knew that several discs were crushed.

[Excerpt] Two Vampires
In tracking down Megan and Nicholas, the Hunter runs into a bit more than he can handle.
The beast became silent for a moment. It was sizing him up and deciding his worth. If it saw him as a threat, it would attack, and the hunter would most likely perish in the service of the Almighty. If it did not, the insult would sting, but the hunter would be free to resume tracking his prey.

Horoscope
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): The biggest food fight on the planet will soon take place. More than 20,000 lunatic combatants will gather in the Spanish town of Buñol to hurl 45 tons of overripe tomatoes and other veggies at each other. Maybe you should book a flight there, Taurus. You’d do yourself a big favor by indulging in senseless but harmless mayhem that allows you to lose control in the name of fun. Nothing would be more healing than a big dose of maniacal fervor.
