A good walk.

My car’s “volts” battery light came on. I figured, hey, it’ll make it home. The radio flickered in and out, losing its presets. Then the car kept rebooting, I shit you not. It would start turning off (not stalling out… the speedometer and the other dials would go all the way to zero) then catching and turning on again. I got as far as my exit.

I had a nice, refreshing walk in the rain from the exit to my apartment. I got to see some schweet lightning, and enjoy the cool rain. Also, two very cute girls in a Saturn stopped and said they’d seen my car and wanted to know if I wanted a ride. I don’t know why, but I said no thank you and that my apartment was right down the road. They asked if I was sure, and I said that yes, and I needed the walk anyway. They left, waving and wishing me a good night. I wished them the same and grinned.

That was when the first lightning strike lit up the sky.

My leather trench coat is now well-tested for wet weather, and it beats the canvas one hands down. I am all wet (at least my head and the front of me, as the coat was open) and red in the face and alive and glowing and flushed. I feel really good.
