Written last night at Luna.

The universe would choose now for a spiritual re-awakening. Not the universe, really. The Gods. And me. Can’t forget my role in this irony. Damn the Conceptual Satanists and their irony. But I digress.

Once, there was the crossing between opportunity, talent, and life that would have included me among those considered musically talented. That crossroads was passed by choice. Now, I am content to be a consumer. A lover of many kinds of music, most especially electronica.

I can appreciate those sets put together by talented DJ’s like , , and , just to name a few. Once again, I can close my eyes and drift away on the waves of sound (Soundwave?). Once again, I can feel that second heartbeat behind the crashing waves. I can feel it remembering me.

Or maybe it’s the two Red Bull energy drinks.

I’m on lunch at work.

There are several different kinds of sobe in the vending machine in the cafeteria.

I have finally caught up on my letters to send to .

Shark fin cable modems are dumb.

I was more tired this morning than I am now. Yay, sugar!

I shall continue to bring my lunch except for on Fridays.

That is all… for now!

Wow.

Short, and to the point.

I’m still extremely excited about my new job. It’s not that the reality of phone support hasn’t kicked in. It’s the -opportunity- that I’m granted, even if the job comes down to nothing more than a steady paycheck and benefits. Even then, no matter what policies change or Corecomm-like slave-driving ensues (something I seriously doubt), I will -still- have the paycheck and benefits, which amply make up for anything they can dish out in an 8-hour day.

I spent the weekend gaming with and hanging out with , , and . I really couldn’t have asked for a better time.

And this guy, who I was sure hated me, didn’t seem to hate me today.

I smiled when I realized that the watered-down root beer was making me make the same face that had made while drinking the non-watered-down stuff earlier. I just grinned and grinned.

I’ve caught up on LJ, for now. Soon, it will be out of my grasp again. Fear not, the landscaping is almost completed, and I’m filled with a great big happy.

Time to go to bed. I have to be on the road at 8.

Early Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): This week Mars is closer to Earth than it has been since cavemen roamed the earth. It also happens to be midway through a five-month sojourn in your astrological House of Networking, which is its longest stay since 1956. Because the red planet invigorates everything it influences, you could very well be a whiz at winning friends and influencing people from now until December. But keep in mind that unless you respond with all your passionate ingenuity to the arousing Martian energy, it may also have a disruptive effect. Here’s your rule of thumb: Go all the way, give everything you have, and don’t hold back.

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): I’m not necessarily suggesting you need a new soul mate. But if you do, this is the perfect astrological moment to go in search of one. Where should you look? I suggest you hang out in unfamiliar territory where you will be fresh and curious — frontier zones where you’re likely to uncover secrets about who you really are. For fastest results, visit the Costco Soulmate Trading Outlet (http://www.thespoon.com/costco/), a clearinghouse for soul mates at the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert from August 25-31. It offers “quality name-brand and private-label soul mates at substantially lower prices than can be found through conventional wholesale sources.” P.S. If you’re happy with your existing soul mate, infuse your bond with a concentrated dose of smart, loving creativity. It’s a perfect moment to propel yourselves into the next phase of your evolution together.

Today is the first day of the rest of this job.

I think I’m going to lock any posts that have to do with work, as I remember a bit of LJ drama with some Comcast employees and having problems with LJ posts. So, I’m going to make mine friends-only.

Up at 6:15. Out of the driveway at 7:09. In the parking lot of Comcast at 8:27. My hour-and-a-half estimation was almost dead on. M-14 was the easiest, and I-696 had more slowdowns than Van Dyke had.

So, since I was haf an hour early, I got to scope out and analyze my class. At least, those that didn’t call in and cancel. Someone whose last day at CoreComm was Friday started here today. Apparently, another mass exodus is being attempted. I couldn’t help but chuckle and wonder just how many familiar faces would end up migrating here.

There are typical training videos, typical motivational and “feel like a family” videos, breaking the ice introductions, etc. Typical orientation stuff. A whole day of HR: benefits, policies, and harassment, oh my!

The call center is fantastic. Pure good. Except for the flooding. And the blowers everywhere. Woosh.

So… very… frustrating.

SUPER-POWERFUL UPDATE SYSTEMS GO!! Uhm… yeah. Or something.

Landscaping outside. Listening to 89X. It goes out. It comes back on. It goes out again and does not come back on. Mom says that there isn’t power in parts of Lansing and Okemos. Next door neighbor says it’s a national outage. I wonder who hates George W more than I do. I continue landscaping. Dad comes home, he has info, but not a lot. “Mechanical problem in the grid.” He has some ideas, and ends up being nearly right. The theory about the lightning strike surfaces on the battery-operated radio headsets. US and Canada start blaming each other… US says the strike was in Canada, Canada says the strike was in the U.S. I think, “Gee, there probably wasn’t a lightning strike if the countries are bickering about something that stupid.” We watch Back to the Future on DVD in Dad’s brand new Chevy luxury SUV. Just like the commercial, only sans popcorn.

Next day includes lots of time in the hot and muggy house.

Then I shot to Ann Arbor like a bat out of Hell. I helped a tiny, eensy weensy bit with the moving in for and . I hung out mightily with . I had missed the hell out of her. The next day was spent looking for a place to live in A2 and Ypsilanti while more moving was done. I also spent some good hanging out time with Amy and Mike. Later on, I picked up the and headed back to Mike and Amy’s. Good good good gaming was had. Then, very late at night, I drove the both of us back here to the T-W-P. The parentals had received power around 4:30 AM on Saturday.

Mom was cooking bacon and eggs when I woke up, around noon today. was sleeping peacefully and beautifully on the couch when I came downstairs. I woke her up (evil me!) and we ate my mother’s delicious cooking. Then, we shot like a bat out of hell to Lansing. We met Blodgett at the Fortress. Bitch-fest mode ON:

During the packing and the moving, I had misplaced issue 3 of the new Transformers comic series. Today, when picking up my pull from Fortress, I replaced it. I’m gettin’ all hyped because I see Galvatron on the cover of Armada, and an old-school Optimus Prime on the first few pages (non-Armada style Prime). So I rush home, bring my comic box downstairs, root through my Armada comics…. and Fortress seems to have missed putting an issue in my pull.

Annoying.

Even though they’ve only missed one, as far as I can tell, I’m kind of upset. It feels like it’s a recurring theme because of the missing issue, and now I’ve got this Issue 1 of a Darkness: Wanted Dead or Alive series, when I just asked for Darkness in my pull. *sigh*

Bitch-fest mode OFF.
Blodgett, , and I went to the MSU union lab to mooch high-speed internet for a little while. Next came Lou and Harry’s for dinner, and then I dropped them both off. After leaving a superbly annoying voice mail message for , I came back to the T-W-P. I did a bit of landscaping (about an hour’s worth) and then got stuff ready for tomorrow. New clothes, yay! Then, I headed down here to the basement to read through comics and make myself tired by catching up on LJ.

Tomorrow, bright and early, I start my new job.

Tomorrow, I start working again.

It feels unbearably good to say that.
