While I’m working.

Feeling the craving to put pen to paper. Need to finish the end journal entry to my latest notebook.

I feel better as the antibiotics leave my system. Huh.

Too. Damn. Hot.

Right and left lower control arms (including bushings) have been ordered.

Still craving polish style pickles, but also thinking of Chinese for dinner.

Chinese for dinner was a go. Chicken curry with onions from Chen’s was delicious. Will have to find pickles at Meijer, or, if I wait until tomorrow before work, Apple Market.

Hours later, and still want to put pen on paper, but have no idea where I’d actually do something like that in my apartment. How odd.

Gotta keep up with errands, even if I’m not staying at my apartment. Duhr.

Maybe I’ll just crash when I get home. *yawn*

Or maybe I’ll do some editing and finish that journal entry. One must have goals, after all.

While I’m working.

Doctor just called with the labwork results. Looks like it’s mono, and the eye infection wasn’t bacterial after all. Apparently, I tend to run myself ragged and not get enough rest. The irony is, I can’t tell mono tired from sleep apnea tired. How do you do that when you’ve lived your life tired?

Also, that means that I’ve wasted a good $80 on prescription co-pays. Nice.

From the Wikipedia article:
Supra-orbital oedema—the eyes become puffy and swollen—may occur in the early stages of infection.
The virus can remain dormant in the B cells indefinitely after symptoms have disappeared, and resurface at a later date.

Lucky me.

RIP George Carlin

My sandwich had too much onion, and did not come with the promised pickle. This is irritating.

I’m answering customers’ questions as they come in, and knowing the answers (save for one) is making me feel pretty good.
I’m officially invited to LiquidWeb’s DC3 ground breaking ceremony. That’s a little messed up.

My boss listens. Even when I’m all GRAWR SKIPPY SMASH!! This is good.

An Inconvenient Truth

I’ve been wanting to see this one for a long time, and I’m glad it’s finally come up in my queue. In the end, it’s a straightforward piece that presents its science and facts upfront, without any obfuscation. Plain speech, for once. Sure, there are the emotional cues and it is skewed toward its premise – humanity is causing an unprecedented rise in CO2 in the atmosphere, and the link between CO2 level and global temperature.

I’m going to do what I can. Four stars.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor

Ahh, the classic tool of the flashback. This made-for-TV movie fills in more detail about Pegasus, about Lee Adama’s new position on that aforementioned shiny ship, the last Cylon war, and the development of the humanoid Cylons. My favorite part had to be the surprise appearance of the old-school “BY YOUR COMMAND” Cylons. They had the old-school Cylon ships! Hell, the humans even blow up god! Or, um, something like one. That’s still pretty unclear. Genetic dead-end, or the origin of the Cylon religion? I’ll tell you what it is! It’s juicy plot awesomeness!

It strikes me that in reiterating that Boomer is hot, I may be neglecting the cuteness of Cally. Okay, fine, fine. I really should also be noting that while both Boomer and Cally (thanks to the casting of their extremely talented and drool-worthy actresses) are distracting to the eye, they portray three-dimensional characters. Their performances are nuanced, emotional, and show us exactly how normal people can become extraordinary in the most dire of circumstances.

Five stars, of course!

Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5

There’s usually a tendency in series writers to keep a status quo. Sure, small things can change, but they usually only change for that episode, or to teach the important lesson. This is standard operating procedure for most TV series, right?

Not so for BSG, especially not so for this season. Blowing up ships, people, more ships, a new humanoid Cylon revealed, a Presidential election, and a planet that can support life! I think that my enthusiasm for this show should be clear, due to the amount of exclamation points that I seem to be using. Oh, and since I’m keeping track…. Boomer = still hot. Five stars.

Update: I had a few details confused between Season 3 and Razor. These should now be corrected.

A moderate-spectrum, bacteriolytic antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.

For those playing along at home….

Severe conjunctivitis in my left eye. What weapons will I fight the beast with? Amoxicillin to fight any of the infection in my blood, and where the blood meets the eye, and eyedrops (can’t remember the drug name) to combat the swelling, itching menace directly. I will fight this battle on two fronts!

Update: The eyedrops are a steroid/antibiotic combo. Get that four times daily, the amoxicillin three times daily. Holy crap.

Also, instead of going back on Vitamin C pills, I think that I will prescribe myself a daily dose of an orange or two for breakfast.

Also also wik, daytime running lamps seem to have perished in my Sunfire. They flash about ten times (as does the interior light), and the clicking that usually accompanies the blinker instead accompanies the flashing. So, my body and my car seem to be in about the same shape. Heh. My guess is that this is related to whatever took out my odometer light, and made the odometer (which is digital) freak out when the trip button was pressed.

Despite this, I’m in a pretty good mood today. Tomorrow before work is the blood work that I’ve been putting off / has been trapped in my trunk.

Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.0

You know, I thought that it couldn’t get any more “OH MY GODS THEY DID NOT DO THAT!” after Season 1’s finale. I was wrong. I know that it’s rare to hear me say that, but I say it here with a clear conscience. I was wrong. I want to create a writer’s equivalent of the master/apprentice system just so that I can apprentice under these writers. I did not expect to see Ensign Ro from Star Trek: The Next Generation show up as the Admiral. The SciFi channel keeps up its tradition of hiring fantastic actors from other popular science fiction TV shows, and I really dug her performance. Also, the other Six that shows up… yeah. If Baltar was crazy before…

Oh, and Boomer? Still hot. Five stars.
