A few updates.

Today is a writing day. Look for the results in the later today, and on the short fiction page on Monday.

My phone is currently off. Billing issues with Verizon. This should be remedied soon.

I haven’t really moved much furniture around since moving day. I haven’t set up my shelves, I haven’t made an attempt to set up any kind of office, and I haven’t moved anything more out of the storage unit. I’m living out of the apartment as if it were a hotel room. Committing to a space must be scaring me. I need to face this fear, and conquer it.

In other apartment news, my neighbors are noisy, and by the smell of the hallway, smoke. This is good for me, as playing music and/or movies will be far less likely to bring about noise complaints.

Connecting to the intertubes with my computron from the apartment is spotty. Apparently, the landlords are regretting their choice to go with TDS Metrocom. Well, duh. So, I get to ponder which ISP I’m going to allow to traffic-shape my packets once I have the cash. In other digital news, I’ll be putting Windows back on my laptop.

New job rocks my socks. Argyle style. Getting money in exchange for work is satisfying. Also, they’re having me write. Brilliant, I tells ya.

Answering the “why” and not filling the silence are things I’ve worked on before, and am working on again. Challenge after challenge after challenge. I hope I’m still up for them.

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): “When you die,” says the Koran, “God will call upon you to account for all the permitted pleasures you did not enjoy while on earth.” There’s a similar idea in the Talmud: “A person will be called upon to account, on Judgment Day, for all the permitted pleasures he might have enjoyed but did not.” This thought should serve as a central theme for you in the coming weeks, Taurus. Don’t worry, you won’t die for many years. But to activate your highest spiritual potentials in the near future, you must plumb the depths of bliss, joy, amusement, and fun.

Weekly Word Count

Lo and behold, the next installment of Adam’s Name is up on my short fiction page. From the site:

“Adam loses himself in blue eyes and lace-covered skin as he flees the strangeness that continues to pierce holes in his reality. He runs to the Goth/Industrial club a few floors above the last bar, and ends up on the roof of a parking garage. Alcohol, making out, a gun shot, and a bonfire under the constellation Orion.”

I’ve also started a thread in the Google group to discuss the strangeness that Adam keeps running into. Feel free to share theories, observations, complaints, offers of gold doubloons, whatever. :)

Also, though I haven’t been a part of it, the activity in the has remained steady. I highly recommend it.

I haven’t forgotten your suggestions about what to write, from that post oh-so-long-ago. Nor the meme where I owe four more people pieces of fiction. I’ll get on track one of these days. :)

Giving something a shot.

If you’ve got Netflix, and want to be able to recommend movies to me, or anime, or whatever, you can friend me there. Friending me will allow me to friend you back, I think.

Anyway, they give you a link to hand out to people that you want to friend you. Here’s mine:

Give it a whirl. :) I’m always up for movie recommendations.

Call for assistance

I realize that this is super-short notice. If anyone has a couple of hours free between 1 and 3 PM today, and doesn’t mind hauling some furniture, and I are going to be moving a lot of my stuff from the house on Fairview to the apartment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Hunters recently killed a 50-ton whale off the coast of Alaska. While cutting it apart back on shore, they found a metal projectile lodged in its blubber from an older attack. Later research revealed it had been manufactured around 1890. That means the whale was at least 115 years old, and had been carrying around the projectile for over a century. I bring this to your attention, Taurus, in the hope that it will inspire you to meditate on your own ancient wound. When you pass on to the next world many years from now, I’d hate for you to still be infected with the hurt that befell you in your youth. It’s an ideal time to take aggressive corrective action. Heal it!

Base of Operations Secured

Yesterday was securing the apartment, moving some stuff in, hanging out with , the John King Bookstore in Detroit, some National Coney, and DJing on IPM. The day was good enough to nearly completely overwhelm this dirty, dirty cough.

I have Halls, and will be picking up NyQuil. I left my shampoo, body wash, and conditioner in the TWP. Fortunately, I had an extra bottle of body wash, and will just have to pick up some shampoo and conditioner. Hey , mind bringing that up when you come on Friday? Are we still on for Friday?

I’m taking it easy today, and I think I’ll only grab a few things from the storage unit, like the kitchen stuff. I’ll need to go shopping for a new microwave soon, and I have one in mind. I’m already looking forward to hanging art on the walls, getting a corner desk, and putting all of my books up on the shelves. Of course, I need to get the shelves, old desk, table, dresser, and such from the house on Fairview over there. For those of you that have offered help, I may just be taking you up on it. *eyebrow waggle*

But today, I need to take it easy and not get ahead of myself. I should pick up some orange juice, as well. Hrm, maybe a list is in order.
