Various and Sundry

For X-Men 3, I have one word: disappointing.

Net Neutrality: This video explains a lot of what it’s about. Thanks, .

I still think that all it will take is a company or two (Google? Eh, what?) to purchase a bunch of dark fiber (cheap as hell since telco scandals of a couple years back), hook up to university backbones (mmm, donations), and attach their own DNS and routing servers. Change two numbers in your connection settings, no matter who your ISP is, and whammo. No more privileged internet.

Also thanks to , a former chaplain at Guantanamo talks about abuse and underage prisoners.

The signing for June 17th at Everybody Reads is confirmed! 6pm to 8pm, and they will have copies of the novel at the store, available for purchase. Glee!

My mood has been swinging like a god. damned. pendulum. Likely I need to write more. Also, I think that I had gotten used to having part of my day to myself while was working for the state. We have since spent FAR too much time together. Her trip to WI this weekend will be good for both of us.

Also, I probably need to write more. [Benny voice] Did I mention that? ‘Cuz I do. [/Benny voice]

Psycho Hosebeast

This Barbara Bauer person is still going about and threatening to sue people for perfectly legal activity.

Barbara Bauer is all whiny that she got listed on the “Twenty Worst Scammers” list when it comes to scamming people who want to become authors. Perhaps, instead, she should STOP SCAMMING WRITERS.

She’s now brought down a major forum for up and coming writers, called Absolute Write, by making irate phone calls and spewing retarded filth that she thinks are lawyer-speak. Posting this woman’s email address on the web, and thereby opening her up to spammers (same email address is readily available at her own website, BTW) does not make the company a spammer. Nor is spamming made illegal in the DMCA. Just… just… ARGH, JUST STOP SUCKING OUT MY INTELLIGENCE! You are SCAMMING people. You were CAUGHT. SUCK IT UP! ARGHQ@*)($&@WPODFJDS:8PWJF!one!:LKFDKSJ*STABSTABSTABBITYSTAB*

*breathe*

Barbara Bauer is much like those ignorant fools that would call in to tech support and demand that they wouldn’t have to pay their bills or that we have to Fix It Right Now because they know a lawyer. I don’t like Barbara Bauer or what she’s doing.

So I, like many other people, are linking Barbara Bauer to the aforementioned Twenty Worst Scammers list, thereby upping Google’s correlation between that list and her name.

Slacktivism? Maybe. Poetic justice? Certainly.

This is important enough to share.

made this post about feeling like a failure sometimes.

Turns out that even the most successful often feel this way. Well, I’ve got something to share, and hope that admitting this helps to make me a better person.

Sometimes, I feel like an absolute, complete, and total failure.

This is not a call for sympathy, alert of current emotional state, or a need to come to terms. I just think you guys should know. :)

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Surveys show that 21 percent of the population say they’re “regularly bored out of their minds.” If those surveys included astrological data in their research, I bet they’d find that among Tauruses who suffer bouts of boredom, 85 percent are most susceptible to that state during the end of May and the first half of June. That’s why I encourage you to make dramatic efforts to keep yourself stimulated and amused in the coming days. Don’t fall prey to the lowest common denominator of plain old ordinary fate. Use your imagination to fill your schedule with novelty, intrigue, learning experiences, and high adventure.

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): This is a time when you must put one concern above all others: being true to yourself. Don’t you dare elevate other people’s needs above your own. Don’t you dare let their guilt trips manipulate you into watering down your interesting quirks. You have simply got to devote yourself exuberantly to your idiosyncratic dreams. You owe it to yourself to learn all you can about your innermost secrets and ripening mysteries. You need to be ingeniously obsessed with serving your deepest, wildest, most noble longings.
