Busy Bee

I guess that completing Yeesha’s path, even if it is for a second time, is something worth noting. All four sets of tapestries have been found and touched; all four lessons have been learned. As before, I’m putting Yeesha’s paths aside for a moment as I work on calibrating the Great Zero Machine with marker hunts.

These views, all along Yeesha’s path, struck me as worthy of pictures. Ignore the viking helmet. ;)

Doctor Who: The Beginning, Futurama: Bender’s Big Score, and Richard III

Man, that original Doctor was saucy! Not only that, he was full of himself, totally convinced of his and his granddaughter’s superiority, and totally senile! He was GREAT! Holy cow, sixties sexism was alive and well. Four stars.

Like the Simpsons movie, this one was pretty much an elongated episode. It was an enjoyable episode that actually had repercussions for stupidity during time travel. And since Bender was doing most of the time traveling, there was a whole lot of stupidity with a whole lot of repercussions. Enjoyable, but now wow-worthy. Three stars.

Man, that Richard was a rat bastard! The lesson from this movie adaptation of a play: Lie. Lie a lot. When you get caught, lie more. And then lie. Make reference to deformed genetalia and wanting nookie. Then lie more. Also, lie. Three stars.

Deep Space Elventy Bajillion

2010.01.11-02Those Minmatar space stations, those are solid-looking pieces of construction, I tell you what. I mean, of course, they’re policed to hell and back. Sure, you could attack someone in one of these high-security zones, but you’d have ships swarming all over you in an instant. And who knows if your pod would survive? There are places, rough places, out away from the empires, where that sort of thing is the way it goes, all the time. But here, in the heart of the Minmatar Republic, a noob like me can feel safe training up before heading out into lawless space.

Learning Curve

2010.01.11-01I like space ships. Out there, in the depths of space (noob system Ryddinjorn), no one can hear you scream. But they can watch you take a picture of a mining colony as you learn the basics of ship control. But, I hear you say, you’re such an awesome podder! You took to it like a fish to water! How could you possibly need training? Well, boys and girls, there’s quite the space piloting learning curve when welded into a life-support pod that can download your consciousness and send it to a waiting clone in the event of your death. Quite the curve, indeed.

Thoughts From the Day Job

Motivation seems to be returning. This is good.

  • Phone tech support for Hunter’s grandma.
  • Replaced CPU fan on Wren’s desktop, thereby allowing it to boot.
  • Updated video driver on Nikki’s laptop, which while improving the overall graphics, did not solve the flickering problem.
  • Keeping today’s food log updated.
  • Got writing done on my lunch break.

The candy canes on my desk (SweeTart and Life Saver) and the chocolate bells in the candy jar (Reese’s and Butterfinger) are tempting me. Oddly enough, I haven’t eaten either because I don’t have the nutritional information.

At home, moving our pantry shelves into the basement has prevented me from snacking as much. Laziness about going down and back up the stairs has made me abandon the desire to snack about 60% of the time. The witty plaques have returned to the kitchen wall, and I will soon have a dishwasher. This excites me in ways that kitchen appliances should not.

Ground my own coffee last night, and brewed it again on the timer this morning. It feels good, and right, and I have no idea why. In the past, I have put off brewing my own, preferring to go to a local coffee shop, even if it was to pick up on the way to work. Even chains like Beaners and Tim Hortons have benefited from my lack of desire to brew at home. Maybe it’s the enormous thermos in which I’m storing my coffee. Maybe it’s that I’ve ground the beans myself (the aroma of the beans as they’re grinding is just… indescribable). I’ve brewed -good- coffee at home before, but I’ve never really enjoyed it this much.

Also, delicious.

Looks like the drive home will be slow and careful. My guess is 2.5 inches of snow, but I haven’t checked with any weather services. I feel for the southeastern states right now; they’re not used to this sort of thing. Lizard popsicle?
