Call for assistance

I realize that this is super-short notice. If anyone has a couple of hours free between 1 and 3 PM today, and doesn’t mind hauling some furniture, and I are going to be moving a lot of my stuff from the house on Fairview to the apartment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Horoscope

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Hunters recently killed a 50-ton whale off the coast of Alaska. While cutting it apart back on shore, they found a metal projectile lodged in its blubber from an older attack. Later research revealed it had been manufactured around 1890. That means the whale was at least 115 years old, and had been carrying around the projectile for over a century. I bring this to your attention, Taurus, in the hope that it will inspire you to meditate on your own ancient wound. When you pass on to the next world many years from now, I’d hate for you to still be infected with the hurt that befell you in your youth. It’s an ideal time to take aggressive corrective action. Heal it!

Yesterday was securing the apartment, moving some stuff in, hanging out with , the John King Bookstore in Detroit, some National Coney, and DJing on IPM. The day was good enough to nearly completely overwhelm this dirty, dirty cough.

I have Halls, and will be picking up NyQuil. I left my shampoo, body wash, and conditioner in the TWP. Fortunately, I had an extra bottle of body wash, and will just have to pick up some shampoo and conditioner. Hey , mind bringing that up when you come on Friday? Are we still on for Friday?

I’m taking it easy today, and I think I’ll only grab a few things from the storage unit, like the kitchen stuff. I’ll need to go shopping for a new microwave soon, and I have one in mind. I’m already looking forward to hanging art on the walls, getting a corner desk, and putting all of my books up on the shelves. Of course, I need to get the shelves, old desk, table, dresser, and such from the house on Fairview over there. For those of you that have offered help, I may just be taking you up on it. *eyebrow waggle*

But today, I need to take it easy and not get ahead of myself. I should pick up some orange juice, as well. Hrm, maybe a list is in order.

My jaw muscles hurt.

I got my start date for the new job – the 19th. I’ve let them know that I’m available to start earlier, if it’s convenient, so we’ll see.

Still waiting on the background/credit check for the apartment. Shouldn’t be as nervous as I am, but well… I am.

Slept very poorly last night. I’m starting to cough, and I think I caught it from hanging out with ‘s son. So, Vitamin C pills and Echinacea tea for me. Immune system, go!

Update: I got the apartment! I pick up the keys tomorrow morning.

On being a coward.

I feel like a coward. There are those that I need to, want to, ask to untie their knots, but I find myself looking for the “best time.” Or I avoid doing it while they’re at work, because they don’t deserve having their faith in she and I destroyed in front of co-workers.

I feel like I’m avoiding it. I feel like I’m being a coward again, when these are the obvious next steps to moving forward. Being back in the city will make it easier, but nothing is going to make this easy. It shouldn’t be easy. It was designed not to be easy, so that the marriage could not end lightly.

That’s why the knots were put there in the first place.

I want to move on from this. I want to heal. I want not to be broken.

Netflix Reviews

This movie was a big old bowl of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. And I mean that in a good way. For the first half of the movie, I was just embarassed for every single character. As it went on, it felt like somebody had secretly replaced my brain with Folger’s Crystals to see if I’d notice. When I finished watching the thing, I sat there, staring at the credits for a while. It took a day or so to fully digest how I felt about it, and then I realized… this is what happens for the few months before every single CSI episode. There was evidence to incriminate all involved, whether they were guilty or not. And yet, the victim was so happy. Just… my brain bleeds, and in such a good way, when I think about this movie.

I was not expecting anything but a straightforward bank robbery/hostage movie when I popped this one in the DVD player. I was a tad surprised when I witnessed the politics, backstabbing, and back and forth that I’d expect to see at a well-run and well-played Vampire LARP. I’ve never really been big into Spike Lee movies, and perhaps I just needed a push in the right direction. Also, the nods toward noir and Dick Tracy style were beautiful. Definitely an entertaining cop movie.
