Deposit put down on a fuel-efficient, (hopefully) reliable car. It’s a blue 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, and it drives like it just came off the lot. It’s within my price range, and works.

Everything should be final on Thursday. Of course, gas is expensive, so I’ve got to be careful about how I plan my road trips, even with a fuel-efficient car.

Next is a job in a place that I’d like to live.

I am Scruffy McNeedsAShave. Just so’s ya know.

I am missing public transportation like a fiend. I only borrow my mom’s car rarely, as the enormous keychain is a natural Dave-deterrant. I need to start scanning the classifieds for cars soon. Without a regular paycheck right now, even J.D. Byrider is not an option. I don’t foresee too much difficulty, though.

Getting out of the house and getting things done makes for less crazy in my head, though not by much.

Last night, I dreamed that my parents surprised me by taking me to a park to meet with some people. The going to the park was not a surprise, but the people there was. It felt like some sort of birthday celebration. Grandma and Grandpa Bean were there. Great Aunt Della Henderson was there, and so was Great Uncle Bob. Our dog Tipsi was there, too, and he wasn’t being grumpy at all. Just as the dream was ending, and her mom, Jean, were pulling up. I didn’t realize until after I woke up that most of the people in my dream had passed on. I was so happy to see them, but at the same time, I had never wanted to see Buddy so much in my life. I woke up with the intense desire to go back to sleep, and force Buddy into my dream.

Gee, I wonder if Samhain is around the corner. Heh.

Dreams, confusion, and frustration

I dreamed about being in college dorms. As is typical in dreams I have about school, I got lost. My dorm was switched on me while I was gone, and my stuff was mysteriously moved from the old to the new. My glasses had disappeared, and I had to keep going through different pair only to realize that I’d already found my pair, they just needed a bit of cleaning. And, for some reason, I’m always trying to find a place to take a shower (Shaw Hall had large bathrooms/shower facilities for every floor, not a bathroom in every room or suite) and can’t.

I woke up, and my jaw muscles hurt from clenching my teeth all night long. *sigh*

I did not expect LiquidWeb to not want me back. From the way the exit interview went, I thought that I had not burnt that bridge. I guess I was wrong.

Weekly Word Count – back from the dead!

This small part of Adam’s name is taking me forever to edit. I’m adding a few pages to it, just about doubling its length, because it needs more. ( Thanks ) I’ve got a decent start on it, but I feel stuck. Should I bring the girl in early, or should they run into each other on the dance floor? Should there be more foreshadowing about the story that Adam is getting involved in? Or should there just be more about how he feels apart from everything?

This is the first encounter that has Adam really and truly just observing someone else’s story. He’s slipped into another fictional world, one in which a girl gets initiated into a sisterhood of witches. Adam will only witness a very small slice of the story, but it will be enough to send him on his way. Since Adam’s telling the story, putting more emphasis on his separation from the world around him makes the story uninteresting… why should the reader care? And Adam certainly loses himself in this girl as he tries to escape into the drunk game again… maybe he shouldn’t be so okay with leaving at the end.

I might just need to fill the space with words and see what comes out. :)
